Rob Makes ‘The 100 British celebrities who really matter by Piers Morgan’

2010.03.08

6. Robert Pattinson

This is quite a simple one. Pattinson’s the handsome young star of the Twilight films, beloved of teenage girls and other moody types. That fact makes him a nailed-down cert to be the most sought-after British movie star of 2010.

And that, in turn, makes him ‘matter’. The only problem for Pattinson is that, as my grandmother always likes to say, ‘One day you’re the cock of the walk, the next you’re a feather duster.’ And nowhere is that more true than in good old Tinseltown. So I wish him well, but urge him to watch his back.

And not just because of the millions of girls all over the world who’d like to attach themselves to his shapely shoulders as a matter of urgency.

Cut To Commercial – What Went On Behind The Scenes Of The Oscars

2010.03.08

Hollywood’s Kodak Theatre was swarming with celebs last night for the Oscars and while the telecast went well over the 3 hour mark, there is still a lot the folks at home didn’t get to see.

For instance, Matt Damon and his Luciana were seen rubbing elbows with his competition at the bar. Matt shared a glass of champagne with Stanley Tucci to toast their loss to Christoph Waltz. A little bubbly to ease the pain!

Across the way, in the lobby, Jake Gyllenhall was seen having a lengthy conversation with Rachel McAdams. He finally took a moment to introduce her to a friend of his, announcing, “This is Rachel McAdams, she’s the mother of my child!” (Cue no-one laughing at this zinger!)

Backstage, Twilighters Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner were spotted giggling like school girls over the excitement of present the tribute to horror flicks, (which Twilight is certainly not) and deejay Joel Madden enjoyed his spot in a private box adjacent to the stage, where he got to watch the show and spun tunes like future father-in-law Lionel Richie’s Easy Like Sunday Morning during commercial breaks.

Yeah, it’s just about as exciting as the actual show was. Oh, BTW, we’re fairly certain the show wouldn’t have gone into overtime had there not been an interpretive dance portion of the show, brought to you by The Gap. Just saying.

Kristen Stewart – Oscars 2010 Red Carpet

2010.03.08

Kristen Stewart is beautiful in a strapless midnight blue silk satin organza gown by Monique Lhuillier and Bally shoes as she arrives at the 2010 Oscars held at the Kodak Theater in Los Angeles on Sunday evening (March 7).

The 19-year-old Twilight actress will be presenting during tonight’s ceremony alongside costar pal Taylor Lautner.

Alec Baldwin and Steve Martin will host the night’s festivities.

The 2010 Oscars will air TONIGHT @ 8PM ET/PT on ABC.

FYI: Kristen finished her look with “Amantea” sandals by Bally and an H.Stern top diamond Marquis bracelet in 18K white gold worth $224,000!

Mariska Hargitay Hits the 2010 Oscars

2010.03.08

Making for an early arrival, Mariska Hargitay turned up for the 82nd annual Academy Awards in Los Angeles on Sunday evening (March 7).

Held at the Kodak Theatre at Hollywood & Highland Center, the “Law and Order” actress dazzled in fancy frock as she walked the red carpet.

Sure to be quite the extravagant affair, the 2010 Oscars are set to be hosted by Alec Baldwin and Steve Martin.

Meanwhile, the evening will see the biggest names in show business taking turns as presenters, with the likes of Miley Cyrus, Kristen Stewart, Taylor Lautner, Penelope Cruz, Kate Winslet and Zac Efron, among many others.

Academy Awards Fashion Face-Off: Kristen Stewart vs. Miley Cyrus

2010.03.08

At last night’s Academy Awards, Miley Cyrus made bigger news than Sandra Bullock.

The latter won Best Actress, but the former admitted she was dating Liam Hemsworth. Asked whether she was the Australian actor’s girlfriend, Miley said “yes.” Asked if she was in love, Cyrus replied “maybe.”

It was a big evening for the young singer/actress, as she then appeared on stage (admittedly nervous) and handed out the award for Best Original Song.

But can Miley herself take home the trophy for Best Looking Young Celebrity at the event? She’s matched up against Kristen Stewart in this showdown, as the Twilight Saga star appeared alongside Taylor Lautner and introduced a montage of horror movie clips to the audience.

Who looked best at the Oscars?

The Ladies Go For Texture and Color on the Oscars Carpet!

2010.03.08

The ladies looked glamorous on the red carpet at the Oscars, with an ivory-dressed Diane Kruger leading the way in her Chanel gown. She told us she couldn’t figure out what exactly to wear, so Karl Lagerfeld just sent her the dress and she loved it! Kate Winslet went metallic in YSL, while Oscar winner Sandra Bullock fit with the evening’s color scheme in gold Marchesa. Carey Mulligan didn’t bring Shia LaBeouf despite our hopes that she would, and she posed solo in her strapless Prada. Kristen Stewart sported a dramatic navy blue Monique Lhuillier, and even stopped to hug her TV producer father who was working at the event.

Mariah Carey was one of the many ladies who wore standout colors with her deep blue gown with a thigh-high slit. Maggie Gyllenhaal lead the strapless brigade in her multicolored Dries Van Noten, while Anna Kendrick was pretty in pale pink wearing Elie Saab. Charlize Theron kept things creative and colorful in a purple and Penelope Cruz picked a dark burgundy Donna Karan gown. Fab wants to know who you thought was the best dressed. Make sure to check out Fab and Bella for the rest of the evening’s beauty and fashion news!

Before we get too drunk, here’s an Oscars preview!

2010.03.07

Since it’s crazy slow around here today, and since the Oscars are coming on Sunday, let’s do a little preview of the showbiz’s biggest night. So far, the Oscar presenter list is sounding good, with the following stars confirming: Gerard Butler, Jake Gyllenhaal, Miley Cyrus, Kristen Stewart, Bradley Cooper, Jason Bateman, Tom Ford, Robert Downey Jr, Queen Latifah, Matt Damon, Samuel L. Jackson, John Travolta, Chris Pine, Keanu Reeves, Charlize Theron, Jeff Bridges, Sandra Bullock, Barbra Streisand, Kathy Bates, Ryan Reynolds, Tina Fey, Steve Carrell, Quentin Tarantino, Ben Stiller, Zac Efron, Kate Winslet, Penelope Cruz, Channing Tatum. Sam Worthington and Sean Penn. Hmm… that’s some good man meat, but there’s still no Jude Law, Clive Owen or George Clooney (who is nominated), but it still sounds like there will be enough beefcake to ogle to my heart’s content.

As far as the actual nomination and my guesses for the winners, I’m only to talk about the big six. Most are pretty much shoo-ins, but I’ll list them anyway:

Best Supporting Actress: I think Mo’Nique has it sewn up, but there’s always one upset in the acting categories, and this year, there’s a slight possibility it could be in this category. Mo’Nique is up again Vera Farmiga, Anna Kendrick, Maggie Gyllenhaal and Penelope Cruz – and I don’t really have a second choice, honestly. I think it’s going to Mo’Nique.

Best Supporting Actor: I would only be shocked if Christoph Waltz did not win. He was creepy and terrifying and hilarious and insane in Inglourious Basterds, and I think it’s cool that this obscure Austrian actor is sweeping every award. He’s up against Matt Damon, Woody Harrelson, Stanley Tucci and Chrisopher Plummer. My guess is that if this category is the “surprise” it would be for Plummer, as some kind of lifetime-achievement Oscar.

Best Actress: Call me crazy, but I’m not positive Sandra Bullock has this one wrapped up. Her chances are very good to take home her first Oscar, but I think there’s a 1-in-4 chance Meryl Streep could get some love. Carey Mulligan, Helen Mirren and Gaby Sidibe are also nominated, but I don’t think any of them really has a chance.

Best Actor: Jeff Bridges. He’s got it. The only other one, maybe, who has like a 1-in-20 shot is Colin Firth. But it’s going to be Jeff Bridges.

Best Director: I really think the Academy is going to recognize the first woman ever in this category, Kathryn Bigelow for The Hurt Locker. Not only did she do so much with such a small budget, but the Academy likes recognizing “the first…” And this year, Bigelow is the first woman to be the frontrunner for Director!

Best Picture: I think Avatar will win the big one, but The Hurt Locker has a good shot too. I would be happy with either. I think it’s 50-50.

Now, just for fun, I’d like to list some things that don’t go on conventional “Oscar Preview” lists. Here‘s what I‘m expecting for Sunday:

*The red carpet is going to be crazy boring. Very few of the big fashion girls (Nicole Kidman, Marion Cotillard, Kate Hudson) are coming out and I’m expecting a sea of “safe” looks.

*Lots of dumb Avatar jokes. One of the worst things about a big movie that everyone has seen is that it becomes the reoccurring butt of jokes throughout the night. At some point, Steve Martin and/or Alec Baldwin will be blue, I’m sure.

*Steve Martin and Alec Baldwin will be funny and witty and debonair as Oscar hosts, but the ratings will still go down. This is because the majority of Americans don’t seem to care for funny and witty and debonair.

*Jeff Bridges will make me cry at some point, probably when he’s thanking his wife of 27 years.

*Mo’Nique will make me cry at some point, probably when she shows off her hairy legs.

*Christoph Waltz will accept his award by reciting some cryptic, strange half-poetry mantra-like speech.

*I’m hoping that Meryl will get a lot of face time, especially with Alec and Steve as hosts. I hope she’s sitting up front, and I hope the camera is on her a lot. I love Meryl.

*I will probably be too drunk to remember who won Best Picture.

Director Promises A Steamy Eclipse

2010.03.06

HAWT!

Director Chris Weitz has said he’s looking forward to seeing the third film in the Twilight series Eclipse, especially one scene in particular, explaining:

“I’m looking forward to the sleeping bag scene, I gotta say. that’s going to be very steamy.”

Chris is referring to the scene where Bella [Kristen Stewart] gets into a sleeping bag with Jacob [Taylor Lautner] while Edward [Robert Pattinson] watches.

Kinky!

Weitz also said he’s anxious to see a particular scene with Elizabeth Reaser and Peter Facinelli, who play Edward’s parents:

“I have a special interest in seeing Peter and Elizabeth tear people’s heads off. Knowing them, and knowing how kooky and delightful they are, I’m going to find seeing them being ultra-violent very interesting indeed.”

You know what we find interesting?

Any scene with R-Patz — we can’t wait!!
